Day 3 of LEJOG completed starting north of Dartmoor and ending on the edge of the Mendips .. 82 miles and 3225 ft climbing in the baking sun.
After a brutal start to get out of Devon we enjoyed the much gentler Somerset hills and finished along the waterways of Somerset around Taunton and the flats leading to Cheddar Gorge.
Unfortunately half way through the day on a remote country lane we had our first incident .. “gravel!” I shouted and just manged to ride through it. David followed and somehow survived. Sam following close behind wasn’t so lucky and his skinny tyres objected and jettisoned him from his bike. He’s made of tough stuff and rode the rest of the day with a sore ankle. Thank goodness for cyclists’ medicine .. ibuprofen!
