We plan on holding a full complement of internal competitions this year – to enter please contact Alan Pilkington via Message/txt, WhatsApp, email or telephone. Sign-up sheets will start appearing around the chalet too. You can enter all, one, or as many as you like – there is an entry fee of £3 for each.
There are separate competitions for Men and Women and some Mixed ones – open to both men/women. All competitions are played on a knock-out basis apart from The Presidents Plate.
Once the competitions are drawn you are expected to arrange a date to play with your opponent. The hedges have had a first cut in a while. The paddock side will be trimmed later.
On Saturday 10th October the green was put to bed for another year. Using Bowls England guidelines the green was scarified, aerated, fed and wrapped up.
After a resounding loss last year the men were looking to get back to winning ways this year. Sunbury has a very strong women’s section and the men would definitely have to up their game.
A beautiful afternoon saw narrow one point wins for each of the men and women on two of the rinks. The men took another rink by 6 points but crucially the women won on the the last rink by 7 points to take the match overall 60-59.
The men will have to dust themselves off and come out fighting again next year.
