We rounded off the week with some better news .. a first win this season in the South Middlesex League (SML)! Sunbury got off to a flying start on one of the rinks and kept the pressure on until the end, despite a few wobbles. We suffered at the start on the other three rinks but turned it around on a couple of them for wins. The other rink drew level with two ends to go but just missed out completing the clean sweep but Sunbury still recorded an overall 8-2 win over league leaders Bishop Duppas. The team received some splendid support from those watching. Next weekend sees two away games – at Staines on Saturday in the SML; followed by a friendly at Ember on Sunday.

The second of our day-long club competitions, the Presidents Plate, is fast approaching on Saturday 18th. We’ve lost some players due to engagements in Middlesex county quarter/semis on that day so we currently have 34 players. It’s a triples competition played over a series of short games with the teams drawn at random with a little seeding to ensure some degree of balanced teams. Please get in touch if you can no longer make it or would like to enter.

Lastly, it looks like Richard’s funeral will be held on 27th July, although that’s to be confirmed. More details will follow.
