Sunshine!

The better weather may have made a welcome return but, unfortunately, it didn’t change our fortunes in the South Middlesex League (SML). We cemented our last place in the league with an 8-2 loss at home to Fordbridge Park on Saturday. We were up on one rink and had chances on two others but our only points came from the rink that went behind 10-nil after the first few ends! We don’t play again until July when we welcome Bishop Duppas.

It’s been decided that the rained-off Mixed 2-wood Pairs competition will take the place of the unnamed competition on 8th August. All players will be transferred to this date by default although I know that not all of you will be able to make it. Barry will have his work cut out to reconcile the refunds, etc. so please bear with us.

Before that, we have the Mixed 2-wood Singles. We currently have 26 players signed up – please get in touch with any changes.

Alan; Anita; Barry; Bindley; Bob; Cassie; Christine; Colin; DavidP; Don; Eileen; Frank; Gary; JenB; John; Karen; Kath; Martin; Mike; NeilF; Peter; Roger; Sandy; Simon; Verena; Wade.

We’re fast approaching the first deadline date (28th June) for our club competitions. Many thanks for those of you who’ve arranged/played them in good time; if the rest of you need help please get in touch. The best way to make contact with your opponent(s) is using WhatsApp. Most players are on the members’ group. Just go to the group, click on the group details at the top and scroll down to list all the members. Click on see all and everyone will be listed. If you haven’t got members saved in your contacts then you’ll need to work out who’s who from the default name they’ve used. Click on the person and then you’ll be able to send them a direct message. If you need help please get in touch  .. or ask your kids/grandkids!

Friday Triples has been up and running for a couple of weeks and has managed to dodge the iffy weather. Most teams have registered a win, or two, with a couple of teams yet to get off the mark. Good luck to those and everyone taking part this week and beyond.

It’s super to see so many Sunbury bowlers trying their hand at external competitions, mainly in Middlesex, but also South Middlesex (SM) and North West Surrey (NWS). There’s been a few successes thus far but it’s really tough to keep winning round after round, especially as you progress deeper in the draw and come up against perennial qualifiers for Leamington. Good luck to everyone competing this week, we’ll try and keep folk updated on the WhatsApp group.
